Beginning in freshman year, I led the reform worship services once a week at Hillel and led high holy day worship services with Susan Detweiler. As a music student, I was active in the fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. I studied voice with Dr. Robert Brandt and Violin with Esme Allen Creighton. I sang in the elite “Chorale” during Dr. Duane Cottrell’s tenure as director and played 2nd violin in the Orchestra under the direction of Dr. James Allen Anderson. I worked with Dr. Daniel Stevens to complete my undergraduate thesis “It began with the word” a study of how words from Torah text have been set to music over time in parallel to the original way that they might have been sung.
